Luau

First, I want to THANK all of the people that donated their time and energy to put the Luau all together. From the businesses that donated, to the steel drum guy, those who made the decorations, the people that came to set up and tear down, to those of you who cut up fruit and roasted the pig. Most of all I want to THANK the women that were in the committee that made this all happen. Thank-you, from the bottom of my heart!

The Luau went really well. I was surprised how many people came and went. There was a pig roast with plenty of food. There were items that were donated from local business for silent auction and raffles. People had a good time as a community and I was thankful to hear that.

I just talked the whole time sharing what has been going on with me over the past few months and weeks with friends, family, people from my church, strangers that could relate to cancer, and even classmates that I haven’t seen since I graduated from high school. I talked so much that I wasn’t able to eat the pork. : )

I was shocked to hear the amount that was raised. After counting all the donations for the food, auction items, and raffles the grand total came to $13,000! THANK-YOU so much, I have been overwhelmed with your generosity! Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you!

Dr Appointment Update

Here’s what the doc said…he agreed with what the doctor said in Grand Rapids.  So, I have micro papillary carcinoma kind of cancer.  I will be having a laparoscopic surgery on the 19th of June.  During this surgery they will make four small incisions and take out 8 of my lymphoids on the right side of my abdomen and torso.  They will also take out a thin layer of fat that is under is my ribs, which is known to be a hot spot for cancer cell to go since it’s more nutritious to grow.  After they take out the following they will give my abdomen a chemo wash and then suck the wash back up to take any potential cancer cells.

The surgery should take about 3 hours and a few days after the doctor will be able to stage how mild or severe my cancer is.  I will share with you the following treatments that I will need to do after the surgery

Good news is that the Lord has been providing for my medial expenses.  My church had an offering for me last week and generously gave $2,844.01 for my medical expenses.  Also a few women in my church and friend have been organizing a fundraiser for my medical expenses, which will be on the 21st of June.  God has been heavily involved in providing billboards, banners, and commercials on a Christian radio station to advertise the event and local newspaper will be writing an article.  Please pray for the women who are putting together the fundraier.

I am waiting to hear this week if I was accepted for the UofM financial program which they call M-Support.  If I am accepted, UofM will cover most of my bills for a year.

I am blown away with how He’s been talking care of my finances.

Thank-you so much for your PRAYERS, support, love, cards, emails, and calls.
Much Love,
Shelly
